Locavore

You may have heard of the expression "Think globally, Act locally" but have you ever heard of a Locavore?
A locavore is a person who makes an effort to eat only food grown within a 100 mile radius of their home.
Why would someone do this?
Well-
Its good for the community. You actually can meet the person who produced your food. Some people claim that this experaince alone makes the food taste better.
It benefits the enviroment-
Less fossil foods for shipping and less packaging material generated.
It stimulates the local economy-
Every dollar spent locally yields at least twice the amount of money going into the community. This increases job oppurtunites for local residents who also spend their money locally.
While it is almost impossible to buy everything one needs from whithin a 100 mile radius, it certainly makes sence to try to a few local products an incorrporate it into your lifestyle.
For instance
Gene loves Great lakes Elliot Ness & I love Malleys Chocolates. Who knew we were helping the local economy?
